Representatives of RehabiMed Association/Spain, Cultural Technologies and As Salt Municipality in Jordan, Riwaq – Center for Architectural Conservation and Ramallah Municipality in Palestine, and Bethlehem Municipality and the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation, the implementing agency of Her4Dev project met in Jordan to initiate the project and set up the action plan and guidelines for the inception of the work.
The meeting, which was held between 13 and 15 February, focused on exchanging the information available at the municipalities of the three towns of Bethlehem, Ramallah and As Salt, and setting steps for the future works for each site, and on preparing an action plan for the project based on the data available at the three sites. The participants also visited the historic town of As Salt, explored its cultural heritage, and contributed in guiding the Jordanian team in formulating a vision for the conservation plan of the town.
The Heritage for Development (Her4Dev): investing in people for the rehabilitation and management of historic towns project is funded by the European Commission under the "Investing in People – Development Cooperation Instrument: Strengthening Capacities in the Cultural Sector”, and is implemented by the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in partnership with RehabiMed Association, Riwaq- Center for Architectural Conservation and Cultural Technologies. The project is implemented in cooperation with the municipalities of As Salt, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
