Centre for Cultural heritage preservation (CCHP) and the Palestinian Solar & Sustainable Energy Society (PSSES) concluded the project “BIM for Energy Efficiency in the Public Sector (BEEP), which was funded by the European Union.

Several representatives of ministries, local authorities, local institutions and energy service companies attended an event organized by the CCHP in collaboration with the PSSES on 13 September 2022 in Ramallah (Palestine).

Several guest speakers participated in the event which focused on highlighting the importance of energy efficiency in buildings, analyzing the current situation of buildings in Palestine and their energy performance, the opportunity to use “Building Information Modeling (BIM)” when planning energy retrofitting of buildings, the possibilities of financing operations through “Energy Performance Contracting (EPC)” and the presentation of the BEEP pilot building in Palestine as an example to follow.

After the presentations, time was spent discussing and learning about the BEEP methodology for planning energy renovations of public buildings with heritage value, which is aimed at public administrations who are the usual owners of such buildings.

As a result, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP), BEEP's Palestinian partner, and the following entities: Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources AuthorityMinistry of Local GovernmentMinistry of Tourism and Antiquities.
